THE CANDY BURNER
A GRAVEL FUNDRAISER RIDE FOR THE LANARK COUNTY FOOD BANK
Trick-or-treating may be done, but there’s still one sweet ride left: the Candy Burner. On November 1st, join Common Empire and the Carleton Place Slow Spokes at Stalwart Brewery for a gravel spin through Lanark County. A community cycling event that helps you burn off those peanut butter cups while giving back to the Lanark County Food Bank.
We’ll roll out from Stalwart Brewery at 10 AM sharp, taking on the best gravel backroads that weave through the backroads of Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills. With two routes—La Fuego and La Calaca—you’ll have options whether you’re riding off a couple chocolate bars or the entire trick-or-treat stash.
But this isn’t just about pedalling—it’s about giving back. We’re raising funds for the Lanark County Food Bank, and we ask everyone to bring along a non-perishable food item. Your support helps make sure no one goes hungry while we fill our legs (and hearts) with good miles.
After the ride, stick around for a feast provided by Stalwart Brewery (because nothing says “post-ride refuel” like comfort food and good company). Of course, Stalwart will have the beer flowing to keep the spirits high.
To sweeten the deal, there will be raffles, prizes, and auctions—so even if your legs don’t win the KOM, you might still roll away with something special.
This event is about more than gravel roads. It’s about community, generosity, and yes… burning through that Halloween sugar high in true Lanark County style.
So come ride, give back, and toast to a day where the only thing scarier than Halloween candy is missing out on this ride!
THE ROUTES
EL FUEGO
82.33km + 589m Elevation

A shorter spin on the Candy Burner route — smooth gravel, rolling hills, and all the post-Halloween energy you need to burn off the candy. It follows the same path as El Fuego with a few shortcuts that keep things fun, fast, and friendly.
